SIP: In December 2025, Systematic Investment Plans (SIPs) set a new record in the mutual fund industry. For the first time, total SIP investments crossed ₹31,000 crore this month. In November, SIP inflows were ₹29,445 crore. SIP has become the mutual fund industry's largest growth engine, and investor confidence in it is continuously growing.

Retail Investors Dominate SIP AUM

According to AMFI data, Asset Under Management (AUM) under SIP increased to ₹16.63 lakh crore in December. This now constitutes 20.7 percent of the total assets of the mutual fund industry. This data indicates that the dominance of retail investors in mutual funds is consistently strengthening.

Increase in SIP Stoppage Ratio

In December, the SIP stoppage ratio rose to 85 percent. The SIP stoppage ratio indicates how many new SIPs were started and how many SIPs were stopped or matured in a given month. In November, this ratio was 75.56 percent. In December, a total of 60.46 lakh new SIPs were registered, while 51.57 lakh SIPs were stopped or matured. This increase is a significant indicator for the industry, as investors are continuously investing in new SIP schemes.

Increase in Number of SIP Accounts

In December, the number of SIP accounts increased by 3.9 percent to 9.79 crore, up from 9.43 crore in November. This figure indicates that every fifth investor is investing in mutual funds through SIPs. New investors are continuously entering mutual fund schemes, and despite the maturity of older SIP schemes, the total investment continues to grow.

Monthly and Annual Growth

In December, the monthly SIP investment was ₹31,002 crore, which is 5.3 percent higher than in November. On an annual basis, SIP investment in December 2025 increased by 17.2 percent compared to the same period last year. This consistently rising trend clearly indicates that investors are trusting mutual fund schemes for the long term.

Record Investment Through SIP in 2025

In 2025, the total investment in mutual funds through SIPs amounted to approximately ₹3.35 lakh crore. This is the largest investment ever in a single calendar year. In 2024, this figure was ₹2.69 lakh crore. This clearly shows that investor confidence is continuously growing, and SIP has become the best investment source for the mutual fund industry.

Mutual Fund Industry Outlook

Venkat Chalasani, CEO of AMFI, stated that the outlook for the mutual fund industry remains positive. Continuous SIP investments are offsetting outflows from Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs) and supporting market strength. He added that future fund inflows would depend on valuations and global developments. Investors are now prioritizing large-cap, diversified, and hybrid strategies.
