Smart bulbs with failed app features can be reused for regular lighting and DIY purposes

Smart bulbs with non-functional app or internet features can still be reused as regular LED lights, night lamps, decorative lighting, or DIY lamps, helping reduce household costs and electronic waste.

Smart bulbs with non-functional app or internet features do not necessarily need to be discarded and can continue to be used in several practical ways, according to experts.

Even when smart features stop working, many smart bulbs continue to function as regular LED bulbs through a standard on-off switch. In such cases, they can be used for basic lighting in areas such as store rooms, staircases, or study spaces, ensuring everyday lighting needs are met without replacing the bulb.

Experts note that smart bulbs that remain fixed on a single colour or occasionally respond to app controls can also be repurposed as night lights or decorative lighting. These bulbs can be used in bedrooms or children’s rooms to provide soft illumination, reducing the need to purchase separate decorative or night lights.

For users with basic technical knowledge, smart bulbs can also be reused in do-it-yourself projects. In many cases, only the control board is damaged while the LED and driver components remain functional. By integrating the bulb with a simple LED circuit, it can be converted into a table lamp, emergency light, or workshop lamp.

Such reuse methods help reduce household expenses and contribute to lowering electronic waste.
