Pratapgarh: A horrific road accident occurred late Tuesday night in the Pratapgarh district of Uttar Pradesh. At the Mir Gadhwa intersection in the Manikpur police station area, a speeding, uncontrolled car on the Lucknow-Prayagraj highway ran over four people standing at a corn stall. Three people died in the accident, and one person is critically injured. This incident was captured by a nearby CCTV camera.
Three Dead in Collision with Speeding Car
According to local sources, the accident happened around 11 PM on Tuesday night. Some people were sitting at the corn stall when suddenly a speeding blue car sped towards the stall and crushed the people. The collision was so severe that the canopy erected outside the stall was also blown away.
Madhu Prakash Sonkar died on the spot in the accident. Arvind and Shilpa, along with two others, were critically injured and were referred to AIIMS Raebareli. Two more people died during treatment. One person is still in critical condition.
Tragic Scene Captured on CCTV
The accident was captured on the CCTV camera of a nearby shop. The video shows a speeding car suddenly approaching the stall and hitting the people standing there. Local residents were shocked by this sight. Eyewitnesses stated that people were eating corn when the car, out of control, struck them.
Local residents say that this route has witnessed accidents due to speeding vehicles before. They have demanded that the administration strengthen road safety measures and take strict action against speeding vehicles.
Police Arrested the Driver After the Accident
Immediately after the accident, Manikpur police station personnel reached the spot and took the car driver into custody. Preliminary questioning is being conducted by the police. The injured have also been admitted to the hospital, and the bodies of the deceased have been sent for post-mortem.
A police official stated that a thorough investigation into the incident is underway, and strict action will be taken against the guilty driver. The condition of the road, the speed of the vehicle, and the driver's negligence are being examined to determine the cause of the accident.
Deep Mourning Among Locals After the Accident
The accident has spread panic and deep sorrow in the area. People are demanding that the administration install speed breakers and traffic signs on the highway. They have also emphasized the need for roadside safety measures.
