The incident occurred late Friday night in the Lambhua area of Sultanpur district. Based on information received from an informant, some criminals traveling in a Bolero vehicle without a number plate were being thoroughly investigated.
When the Lambhua police attempted to stop the vehicle, the miscreants inside suddenly opened fire. In retaliation, the police shot three accused in the leg and arrested them.
The injured accused were sent to the Community Health Center (CHC) and later referred to a hospital for further treatment. According to local reports, the identification details of the arrested criminals have not been publicly disclosed at present.
The police stated that some other miscreants managed to escape from the scene; a search is ongoing for their arrest.
