Sultanpur district is experiencing a continuous rise in the menace of stray dogs. Between April and November, over 9,000 people were bitten by dogs, causing widespread panic among the general public. According to the district hospital, 40 to 50 patients are reporting daily to receive anti-rabies vaccinations after dog bites. Previously, 14 doses were administered for this illness, but now, under a new system, the complete treatment is being carried out with only 4 doses.
The growing number of stray dogs, from urban to rural areas, has become a cause of concern for people. Local citizens report that packs of dogs are visible on streets and roads, but no concrete steps are being taken for their control.
The Health Department claims that there is no shortage of vaccines in hospitals, and all patients are receiving timely treatment. Despite this, people are urging the administration to bring the stray dog population under control.
