The death toll in a horrific road accident that occurred last night in the Cuddalore district of Tamil Nadu has risen to nine. Many people were seriously injured in this tragic incident and have been immediately admitted to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Tamil Nadu Road Accident: As of now, nine people have died and several others are critically injured in a major road accident that occurred late Wednesday evening in the Cuddalore district of Tamil Nadu. The accident occurred when a tire of a state transport corporation (TNSTC) bus traveling from Tiruchirappalli to Chennai suddenly burst.
Due to the tire burst, the bus driver lost control of the vehicle, and the bus crossed the median of the national highway, entering the opposite direction, where it collided head-on with two private vehicles.
How the Accident Happened
According to police and eyewitnesses, the bus was traveling at high speed on the national highway. A sudden tire burst caused the bus to become unbalanced and mount the median, entering the wrong lane. At the same time, the bus collided violently with an SUV and a car traveling from Chennai towards Tiruchirappalli. The collision was so severe that both cars were completely damaged and reduced to wreckage.
Initial information indicates that seven people died at the scene of the accident. Later, two more injured individuals succumbed to their injuries during treatment at the hospital, bringing the death toll to nine. Many passengers in the bus and private vehicles were seriously injured in the accident. The injured were immediately admitted to nearby government and private hospitals, where some are still in critical condition.
Upon receiving information about the accident, local police, ambulance services, and relief and rescue teams arrived at the scene. After strenuous efforts, the injured were extracted from the damaged vehicles. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem. The accident caused traffic disruption on the national highway for some time, resulting in a long traffic jam. Later, the police removed the damaged vehicles and restored traffic flow.
Chief Minister Expresses Grief
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has expressed deep sorrow over this tragic road accident. He conveyed his condolences to the families of the deceased and instructed that the injured receive proper medical care. A statement issued by the Chief Minister's Office stated that the state government will provide all possible assistance to the affected families. Additionally, officials have been directed to ensure that there is no shortage in the treatment of the seriously injured.
