A teenage girl died after consuming poison in the Ara area of Bhojpur district, police said. The incident occurred while she was alone at home, with her family members away on work.
According to information, the girl consumed a poisonous substance during this period. Initially, no one was aware of the incident, but her health deteriorated suddenly after some time. When her condition worsened, nearby residents grew suspicious and informed her family.
Family members and villagers rushed her to Ara Sadar Hospital for treatment. Doctors began medical treatment immediately and made efforts to save her life, but she died during treatment due to the severe effect of the poison.
Following the incident, police from the local police station reached the hospital. The body was taken into custody and sent for post-mortem examination, and an investigation has been initiated. Police officials said preliminary findings suggest a case of suicide, though the cause of consuming poison has not yet been determined.
Police said all aspects of the case are being examined, and the exact cause of death will be established after the post-mortem report is received.
Family members told police that the girl’s behaviour had been normal and that there were no known family disputes or sources of stress. She was reportedly doing well in her studies and leading a routine life.
Police are investigating how and from where the girl obtained the poison and under what circumstances it was consumed. A search of the house is underway, and statements of nearby residents are being recorded.
