Uttar Pradesh to Recruit 44,000 Home Guards: Details on Process, Departments, and Salary

It is anticipated that approximately 44,000 Home Guard positions will be filled in Uttar Pradesh. Preparations at the departmental level are nearing completion, and the recruitment process will involve three stages: a written examination, physical efficiency test, and an interview. Home Guards are deployed in various security and administrative departments across the state. However, the official notification is still awaited.

Potential Outline of the Recruitment Process

Preparations are underway to recruit thousands of Home Guards in Uttar Pradesh, offering opportunities for young people. According to media reports, departmental approval has been granted for the recruitment of approximately 44,000 positions in the state, and preparations are in their final stages. While there were expectations of a recruitment notification being released by July 2025, no official announcement has been made to date.

The recruitment process will be conducted in three stages. These include a written examination, followed by a Physical Efficiency Test (PET), and finally, an interview. Only those candidates who successfully complete all three stages will be selected.

Departments Where Deployment Occurs

The services of Home Guards are utilized in several important departments and institutions within the state. Their deployment occurs in the following areas:

  • Maintaining Public Order: Armed patrols and assistance in maintaining law and order.
  • Traffic Management: Assisting in traffic management at major intersections and routes.
  • Dial 112 Service: Duty involving the operation of two-wheelers and four-wheelers.
  • Security of Sensitive Institutions: Such as SGPGI, airports, the High Court, state universities, and Public Service Commission offices.
  • Religious Events and Election Duty: They play an important role in events like the Kumbh Mela, Magh Mela, and also during Lok Sabha, Vidhan Sabha, and Panchayat elections.
  • Security of Doordarshan Centers: Deployment in the security arrangements of state-level media establishments is also provided.

Potential Salary Structure

Home Guard personnel are paid on a per-day basis, depending on the work performed. Currently, a Home Guard receives approximately ₹670 to ₹700 per day. If they work an average of 25 days a month, the monthly salary ranges between ₹18,000 and ₹20,000.

However, the final salary and benefits can only be confirmed after the official recruitment notification is released. Additionally, selected candidates may be provided with other allowances or services, which will be based on departmental rules.
