US Designates Pakistan-Backed TRF as Foreign Terrorist Organization After Pahalgam Attack

US Designates Pakistan-Backed Terrorist Group TRF as a ‘Foreign Terrorist Organization’. TRF claimed responsibility for the murder of 26 tourists in Pahalgam.

TRF Terror Group: The United States has designated 'The Resistance Front' (TRF), a Pakistan-backed organization involved in terrorist activities in Kashmir, as a foreign terrorist organization. This organization is reportedly a front for Lashkar-e-Taiba. TRF claimed responsibility for the terrorist attack in Baisaran Valley in Pahalgam in April of this year, in which 26 tourists were shot dead. This action by the US government is being seen as a strict and decisive move in the global fight against terrorism.

US Designates TRF as a Terrorist Organization

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced the official designation of TRF, or 'The Resistance Front,' as a Foreign Terrorist Organization. This decision follows the horrific terrorist attack that occurred on April 22, 2025, in the Baisaran Valley of Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. In this attack, 26 innocent tourists were killed, and TRF claimed responsibility for the incident.

The United States has also accused TRF of being a new form of the Pakistan-based terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). Lashkar has already been declared a terrorist organization by the United Nations and is headquartered in Pakistan.

TRF is a Front for Lashkar-e-Taiba

The US government has clearly stated that TRF is, in fact, a new and disguised face of Lashkar-e-Taiba. This organization carries out terrorist attacks in Kashmir to avoid being associated with Lashkar on the international stage. TRF's main objective is to spread unrest in Kashmir and attack Indian citizens and security forces.

In his statement, Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that designating TRF as a terrorist organization is a major step towards strengthening US national security and delivering justice to India.

Pahalgam Attack: Murder of 26 Tourists

On April 22, 2025, TRF terrorists suddenly attacked the Baisaran Valley in Pahalgam, a famous tourist destination in Jammu and Kashmir. They were armed and opened indiscriminate fire on the tourists present in the valley. In this barbaric attack, 26 tourists lost their lives. Immediately after the attack, TRF claimed responsibility, making it clear that the organization has a direct connection with Lashkar-e-Taiba. US officials have described this attack as the deadliest terrorist incident in India since the 2008 Mumbai attacks.

America's Strict Stance Against Terrorism

After being designated as a foreign terrorist organization, TRF members will now be subject to various strict sanctions in the United States. These include a ban on their financial transactions, seizure of assets, travel restrictions, and other legal actions. In addition, the United States has also made it clear that it will work with its international partners in the counter-terrorism campaign.

According to the US State Department, TRF has been involved in numerous terrorist attacks in India, particularly in attacks targeting Indian security forces.

India Receives Global Support

The terrorist attack in Baisaran Valley was met with deep outrage not only in India but also internationally. The United States, France, Britain, Japan, and many other countries bly condemned this barbaric attack and expressed solidarity with India.

Immediately after the attack, US President Donald Trump called Prime Minister Narendra Modi to express his condolences. He also said that the United States stands firmly with India in the fight against terrorism and will provide New Delhi with all possible assistance.

India's Strong Response: 100 Terrorists Killed in Air Strike

In response to this attack, the Indian government conducted an air strike on terrorist hideouts in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) on the morning of May 7. In this surgical operation, the Indian Air Force destroyed 9 terrorist hideouts and killed an estimated 100+ terrorists.

According to government sources, the plan for this operation was based on inputs from Indian intelligence agencies and the precise strategy of the army. With this, India sent the message that it would not tolerate terrorism on its soil.
