Uttar Pradesh Government to Create Biometric Profiles for Monitoring Illegal Immigrants
The Uttar Pradesh government is set to establish biometric profiles for monitoring illegal immigrants within the state. This initiative involves collecting data, including fingerprints, facial scans, and iris scans, from individuals detained in detention centers, creating a negative list for tracking. This measure aims to enhance security and transparency in government programs.
UP News: Strengthening Identification and Monitoring of Illegal Immigrants
The Uttar Pradesh government has decided to create biometric profiles to bolster the identification and monitoring of illegal immigrants within the state. Under this plan, biometric data – fingerprints, iris scans, facial features, and other identifying information – of all detained immigrants will be securely maintained in detention centers. This step is intended to strengthen the security apparatus and ensure stringent action against illegal migrants.
New Arrangements at Detention Centers
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has instructed the implementation of state-of-the-art security measures at detention centers. Moving forward, these centers will not only create biometric profiles but also maintain a systematic record of all individuals held. Multiple layers of security will be established within the centers, complemented by advanced CCTV surveillance systems for monitoring the movement of individuals entering and exiting. This technological infrastructure will facilitate continuous monitoring of illegal immigrants.
Negative List of Suspects to be Prepared
The Uttar Pradesh Police has decided to compile a ‘negative list’ – a list of identified illegal immigrants. Individuals included in this list will be easily identifiable in the future, ensuring that no person re-enters the state illegally. This negative list will also be shared with police forces in other states to monitor the movement of illegal immigrants across the nation.
Crackdown on Crime and Illegal Activities
A significant number of illegal immigrants in the state are linked to smuggling and other criminal activities. Investigations in various districts have revealed that many illegal immigrants are involved in criminal offenses, and some have been previously apprehended. The biometric profiles and negative list will enable the easy tracking of such criminals in the future, preventing them from accessing government benefits and contributing to law and order.
Increased Transparency in Government Schemes
Alongside monitoring illegal immigrants, the initiative will also enhance transparency in government schemes within the state. A large number of illegal migrants are exploiting these schemes. The new system will help curb the provision of benefits to ineligible individuals, positively impacting law and order and strengthening the state’s security and administrative control.
Technical Measures for Security
The technological arrangements being implemented at detention centers include modern CCTV cameras and digital recording systems. This system will monitor all individuals and activities within the center. Furthermore, the use of biometric profiles will assist the police in rapidly identifying suspects and apprehending criminal-inclined illegal immigrants.
