Uttar Pradesh Government Awards Bonuses to Transport Department Employees for Mahakumbh Service

The Uttar Pradesh government has fulfilled the promise made by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath at the conclusion of the Mahakumbh. Approximately 25,000 drivers and conductors from the Transport Department, who were on duty during the Mahakumbh held in Prayagraj, have been given a bonus of ₹10,000 each. The government has released a total of ₹24.71 crore to the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) for this purpose.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had made this announcement during the closing of the Mahakumbh. He had stated that employees providing services during a massive religious event like the Mahakumbh should be encouraged. Fulfilling that promise, the amount has now been directly transferred to the employees' accounts.

Drivers and Conductors Honored

The bonus amount was distributed by the Transport Department on Tuesday. This included a ₹10,000 incentive to 11,786 drivers and 12,285 conductors. Transport Minister Dayashankar Singh said on the occasion that such incentive schemes not only boost the morale of the employees but also motivate them to provide better services. He added that the role of these employees was very important in an event like the Mahakumbh, who responsibly worked to transport lakhs of devotees to their destinations on time.

Fewest Employees Sent From Jhansi

The Transport Minister informed that during the Mahakumbh 2025, drivers and conductors were deployed from a total of 19 regions of the state. The highest number of 2,162 employees were sent from the Lucknow region, while the fewest, 574 employees, were deployed from Jhansi.

He said that around 66 crore devotees took a dip in the Ganges during the Mahakumbh, and all this was possible due to the hard work and dedication of these diligent employees. Drivers and conductors performed their duties tirelessly day and night and safely transported lakhs of devotees to their destinations.

Smartphones for Youth Now

Dayashankar Singh said that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is now also working rapidly towards a smartphone distribution scheme to digitally empower the youth. This will help students and youth in education, competitive examinations, and other digital services.

This step of the Yogi government is not only honoring the employees but has also emerged as a b example of administrative commitment and accountability.
