Uttar Pradesh to Implement AKTU Model in Universities to Curb Cheating and Paper Leaks

Uttar Pradesh will introduce the AKTd paper leaks, using online question paper delivery, digital evaluation, barcode and QR tracking, CCTV monitoring, and biometric attendance systems to improve transparency and reduce costs.

The Uttar Pradesh government will implement the Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University model across state universities to prevent cheating and paper leaks, introducing a technology-based examination system with online question papers, digital evaluation, and biometric verification.

The Governor’s Secretariat has approved the adoption of the AKTU model in state universities across Uttar Pradesh, excluding agricultural and medical universities. The initiative aims to make examinations more transparent and secure by addressing issues such as cheating, paper leaks, and impersonation by candidates.

Under the new system, question papers will be transmitted online directly to examination centres, where they will be printed locally. This process is intended to reduce the risk of paper leaks.

Answer sheets will be evaluated digitally within colleges. Barcodes, QR codes, and dummy numbers will be assigned to copies to enable tracking and minimise the possibility of irregularities.

CCTV cameras will be made mandatory at examination centres to monitor the entire process. Biometric attendance systems will also be introduced to verify candidates’ presence and prevent impersonation.

The government has stated that the model will reduce expenditure by lowering costs associated with printing and transporting question papers, while also making the evaluation process more cost-effective.

Experts have indicated that the initiative could contribute to improvements in the higher education examination system in Uttar Pradesh by enhancing transparency, security, and efficiency.
