Uttarakhand is set to establish its first National Cadet Corps (NCC) Training Academy in Ganiyan village of Pauri district after the project received administrative and financial approval. Construction is expected to begin soon following the issuance of the government order and completion of the tender process.

The Uttarakhand government has approved the construction of the state's first NCC Training Academy in Ganiyan village in the Dewar area of Pauri district. The academy will be developed on approximately 4.95 hectares of land. Following administrative and financial approval, the government is preparing to issue the formal order, after which the tender process will be completed and construction work will commence.

The academy will be developed on the lines of the Indian Military Academy (IMA) and is intended to provide NCC cadets in the state with modern training facilities. The project has been awaited for a long time, and the implementation process has now accelerated.

The project's initial Detailed Project Report (DPR) estimated a cost of approximately ₹75.98 crore. Following directions from the government, the proposal was re-evaluated and a revised DPR was prepared with a project cost of ₹50 crore. The revised proposal has received administrative and financial approval.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has also approved ₹1 crore as the first instalment for the project. According to officials, the tender process will begin after the government order is issued, allowing construction to proceed.

The new NCC Training Academy will have the capacity to train 400 cadets at a time, including 280 male cadets and 120 female cadets. The campus will include an administrative building, residential accommodation for officers, hostels for male and female cadets, a mess, offices, training facilities and other essential buildings.

The project also includes environmental measures. A rainwater harvesting tank with a capacity of 100,000 litres will be constructed, while green spaces, flower beds and other environmentally friendly features will be developed across the campus.

The project was among the dream projects of former Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat, who announced the academy in 2019. Following administrative approval, the project is now moving towards implementation. Once completed, it will enable NCC cadets in Uttarakhand to receive advanced training within the state and will benefit young people preparing for careers in the defence services.
