Warren Buffett turned 96 on August 30 with a net worth of about $143.6 billion. The Berkshire Hathaway chairman continues to live in his 1958 Omaha home and is known for his preferences for Coca-Cola, burgers and a simple lifestyle.

Warren Buffett, the chairman of Berkshire Hathaway and one of the world’s leading investors, turned 96 on August 30. With a net worth of about $143.6 billion, Buffett is known not only for his investment strategy but also for his simple lifestyle. He has stayed away from expensive hobbies, continued to live in the same house he bought in 1958, and has long been known for his preference for Coca-Cola and burgers.

Berkshire Hathaway Owns Stakes in Major Companies

Buffett is regarded as one of the most successful names in the investment world. He is chairman of Berkshire Hathaway, which holds stakes and ownership interests in several major companies. Its portfolio includes insurance company Geico, battery maker Duracell and restaurant chain Dairy Queen. Buffett retired as Berkshire Hathaway’s CEO at the end of 2025.

Coca-Cola and Burgers Remain Among His Preferences

Buffett’s eating habits are among the most widely discussed aspects of his lifestyle. He has been a longtime Coca-Cola enthusiast and also regularly prefers eating at McDonald’s. Products from Dairy Queen are also among his preferred treats.

In a 2015 interview, Buffett described his eating habits as similar to those of a child. He said that if he consumed about 2,700 calories a day, nearly one-quarter of those calories came from Coca-Cola.

Buffett Continues to Live in His 1958 Home

Despite his billions of dollars in wealth, Buffett did not choose a luxury mansion as his residence. He continues to live in the five-bedroom house in Omaha, Nebraska, which he bought in 1958 for $31,500.

Built in the Dutch Colonial style, the house covers about 6,570 square feet and has five bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms. Current estimates put its value at about $1.3 million to $1.5 million.

Buffett Took a Different Approach to Smartphones

Buffett also maintained a notably simple approach to technology for many years. In 2020, he stopped using his old Samsung flip phone, which cost about $20, and began using an iPhone. Before that, he had said that he preferred to stay away from expensive smartphones.

These habits have kept Buffett’s personal lifestyle relatively simple despite his inclusion among the world’s wealthiest people.
