New Delhi: Western Railway has announced the commencement of the application process for 2865 Apprentice posts starting from August 30, 2025, and continuing until September 29, 2025. The selection will be purely based on the merit list prepared from the marks obtained by the candidates in their 10th and 12th standard examinations. The minimum qualification required is a 10th/12th pass and an ITI certificate recognized by NCVT/SCVT. Candidates should be between 15 and 24 years of age, while SC/ST/OBC/Divyang (Differently Abled) candidates will be given age relaxation as per government rules.

Number of Vacancies?

In this recruitment, candidates from various categories can apply for a total of 2865 posts. The category-wise distribution of posts is as follows:

  • General Category: 1150 posts
  • Scheduled Caste (SC): 433 posts
  • Scheduled Tribe (ST): 215 posts
  • Other Backward Class (OBC): 778 posts
  • Economically Weaker Section (EWS): 289 posts

This recruitment will be for various trades, including opportunities in both technical and non-technical fields.

Age Limit and Relaxation?

The minimum age of the candidates has been set at 15 years and the maximum age at 24 years. However, relaxation has been provided for certain categories as per government rules:

  • 5 years relaxation for SC/ST candidates
  • 3 years relaxation for OBC candidates
  • 10 years relaxation for Divyang (Differently Abled) candidates

Thus, candidates above 24 years of age will not be able to apply due to the maximum age limit.

Educational Qualification

The educational qualification for the candidates for this recruitment is as follows:

  1. Must have passed the 10th and 12th standard examinations from a recognized board with at least 50% marks.
  2. An ITI Certificate (from an NCVT/SCVT recognized institution) is mandatory.
