Woman and Children Injured in Suicide Attempt After Domestic Dispute in Araria

In Araria, a woman named Nusrat Khatoon, after an argument with her husband over the phone, attempted suicide by jumping in front of a train with her three children. The woman's legs were severed, and the children were injured. They were taken to the hospital with the help of locals and the police.

Forbesganj: A heart-wrenching incident has come to light in Forbesganj, Araria district. Here, a woman attempted suicide with her three young children after an argument with her husband over the phone. The incident occurred near the Subhash Chowk railway gate on the Katihar-Jogbani rail section, where the woman jumped in front of a train. In the accident, the woman's both legs were severed, while the children sustained injuries.

Local people witnessed the incident, but many just stood by and watched. However, a young man bravely helped the woman and children and took them to the hospital.

Tragic Incident Due to Family Dispute

According to the information received, Nusrat Khatoon, a resident of Pothia Ward No. 5, Forbesganj, has her husband Mahfooz Alam working as a laborer in Kashmir. On the day of the incident, Nusrat and her husband had an argument over some matter on the phone in the morning. After the argument, Nusrat left home with her three children and sat near Subhash Chowk all day. In the evening, when the 75761 Passenger Up train going from Katihar to Jogbani arrived there, the woman suddenly jumped onto the tracks with her children. During this, both of the woman's legs were severed by the train. The children suffered minor injuries but were narrowly saved.

Brajesh Kumar Saved the Woman and Children

A crowd gathered at the scene after the incident. People were watching the woman in agony, but no one came forward to help. At such a time, Brajesh Kumar, a resident of Sultan Pokhar, showed humanity, picked up the woman and children from there, and took them to the hospital by e-rickshaw.

The woman and children were admitted to the Forbesganj Sub-Divisional Hospital, where they received primary treatment. Later, the woman was identified as Nusrat Khatoon. Her maternal home is in Arnama, located in Ghuski Gaupalika, Sunsari district, Nepal.

Former Convener of Bajrang Dal Informed the Family

A mobile phone was recovered from the woman. Using that mobile, the former district convener of Bajrang Dal, Manoj Soni, made a call and spoke to the woman's father, informing him about the incident. After this, the woman's maternal relatives arrived at the hospital.

Doctors referred the woman to Purnea Government Medical College for better treatment. However, the relatives shifted her to a private hospital in Nepal. Currently, all three children are said to be out of danger.

RPF and Police Reached the Scene

Upon receiving information about the incident, RPF In-charge Umesh Prasad Singh and his team reached the spot. Bihar Police's Dial 112 team also reached the hospital and gathered information about the matter.

This tragic incident has shaken the entire area. Local residents say that escalating family disputes to such an extent is very unfortunate. Many are also questioning why the crowd remained mere spectators instead of offering help, when timely intervention could have alleviated the woman's suffering.
