This was her 250th match for India. The 28-year-old player has been battling injuries since the Tokyo Olympics, resulting in her missing the World Cup and Commonwealth Games.
Under Rani's captaincy, the Indian team reached the semi-finals of the Olympics in 2020 for the first time. Rani made her return to the Indian team earlier this year during the tour of South Africa, when she was included in the 22-member squad.
Expressing her gratitude, Rani stated, "Having a stadium named after me is a matter of great pride. I dedicate this to the Indian women's hockey team. I hope it will inspire future generations and players."
A stadium will be named after Rani Rampal, marking the first time a stadium has been dedicated to a female hockey player. Rampal is the captain of the Indian women's hockey team.
