Gold-Silver Price: Gold and silver prices continue to fluctuate. On March 20, 2025, the price of 24-karat gold reached ₹88,649 per 10 grams, exceeding the previous close of ₹88,101. Silver prices had crossed ₹1 lakh per kilogram but have since slightly decreased, settling at ₹99,968 per kilogram.

Changes in Gold Prices Across India

Gold prices have also varied across different cities in India. A slight increase in the prices of both 22-karat and 24-karat gold was observed in cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Jaipur, Lucknow, Patna, and Chandigarh. In Delhi, 22-karat gold reached ₹82,660 and 24-karat gold reached ₹90,160 per 10 grams. Similar rates were observed in Mumbai and Chennai.

Reasons Behind the Rising Gold Prices

The rise in gold prices is primarily attributed to both domestic and international factors. The strengthening of the US dollar in the global market, potential changes in interest rates, inflation, and central bank policies are influencing gold prices. Furthermore, the increasing trend of investors towards gold is also driving prices upward.

What is Hallmarking and Why is it Important?

Always check for hallmarking when buying gold. 22-karat gold has a 916 hallmark, 24-karat has 999, 18-karat has 750, and 14-karat has 585. This hallmark guarantees quality and ensures the purity of the gold. Sometimes, gold with lower purity is sold as 22-karat; therefore, pay special attention to hallmarking when purchasing gold.
