Following a meeting of the district peace committee, Darbhanga's Mayor Anjum Ara told the media that a break should be observed from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM during Holi to allow for the peaceful performance of Jummah prayers. She explained that this precaution was necessary due to the potential for disruption by anti-social elements.

BJP MLA's Counter – 'Holi Will Not Stop'

BJP MLA Murari Mohan Jha reacted sharply to Mayor Anjum Ara's statement. He said, "Holi comes only once a year, while Jummah prayers are held weekly. Therefore, suggesting the postponement of the festival is inappropriate. Muslims can either pray at home or attend the mosque two hours later."
