New Delhi: Following the devastating terrorist attack in Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir, the central government has initiated a serious review of the security situation. On Tuesday, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh held a high-level meeting in Delhi with the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), the chiefs of the three armed forces, and National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval.
Army Chiefs Report on Security Situation
In this meeting, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi and Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh Tripathi provided detailed information on the security situation in Pulwama and the entire Jammu and Kashmir region. They reported that all security forces are on high alert and search operations to locate the terrorists are ongoing.
PM Modi to Chair CCS Meeting
In light of the Pulwama attack, a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also scheduled soon. This committee takes the most crucial decisions related to the nation's security. Experts believe this attack is the largest terrorist attack since the 2019 Pulwama attack.
26 Killed in Terrorist Attack
The Pulwama terrorist attack resulted in the death of 26 people, including a newlywed naval officer, several tourists, and local civilians. The attack was carried out by three terrorists, two of whom are suspected to be foreign nationals.
Home Minister Amit Shah Visits the Site
Home Minister Amit Shah visited Beisan Valley on Wednesday morning and met with the victims and their families. He assured them that, "This attack will be responded to, and the perpetrators will not be spared." Shah stated that every necessary step will be taken to ensure justice for the victims.
