Jaishankar issued a stern warning to Bangladesh, stating that it must decide the kind of relationship it wishes to maintain with India. Jaishankar unequivocally stated that while the Bangladeshi government speaks of amicable relations, it simultaneously attempts to blame India for every issue, big or small – a situation that is unacceptable.
Bangladesh's New Government and Anti-India Rhetoric
Since the formation of the new government in Bangladesh under the leadership of Mohammad Yunus, anti-India rhetoric has intensified. Several individuals associated with this interim government have repeatedly accused India, leading to a deterioration in bilateral relations. Following a meeting with his counterpart in Muscat, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar clarified that the practice of unjustly accusing India must cease. He stated, "You speak of good relations on one hand, but blame us for every failure on the other. Bangladesh must decide what kind of relationship it wants with India."
Attacks on Minorities and India's Concerns
India has expressed serious concern over the rising attacks on minorities in Bangladesh. Jaishankar emphasized that this issue is crucial not only for Bangladesh but also for India. He stated, "The violence against minorities in Bangladesh is a matter of concern for us. We will not remain silent and will continue to openly express our views."
Daily Accusations and India's Displeasure
The External Affairs Minister clarified that the daily accusations leveled against India by certain members of the Bangladeshi government are not indicative of a healthy relationship. He said, "If members of the interim government continue to blame India daily, we will also have to consider how we proceed. Relationships cannot be one-sided."

Jaishankar also reminded that the India-Bangladesh relationship is not merely contemporary; it is deeply rooted in the events of 1971. He emphasized India's crucial role in Bangladesh's liberation and the long-standing b cultural and political ties between the two nations.
