Three CRPF jawans were critically injured in an IED blast during an ongoing anti-Naxal operation in Saranda forest, West Singhbhum district, Jharkhand.

Ranchi: Three CRPF jawans sustained serious injuries in an IED explosion during an anti-Naxal operation in Saranda forest, West Singhbhum district, Jharkhand. The blast occurred in Baliba forest under Chotanagpur police station, resulting from the unexpected detonation of a pre-planted explosive device. The injured jawans were immediately airlifted to Ranchi for advanced medical treatment.

Attack on CRPF Jawans

According to security agencies, the attack targeted jawans from D Company, 197 Battalion, CRPF. Company Commander G J Sai, an operator, and another jawan were injured in the explosion. They were airlifted to Ranchi for advanced medical care. Joint operations by security forces are underway to dismantle Naxal bases.

Recently, a large cache of arms and explosives was recovered from a Naxal dump near Husip village in the Toto police station area. The recovered items included country-made pistols, country-made carbines, bolt-action rifles, 303 bore ammunition, detonators, walkie-talkie sets, Naxal uniforms, spike rods, and IED bombs.

Major Operation Against Top Naxal Leaders

According to Chaibasa Superintendent of Police Ashutosh Shekhar, top leaders of the Naxal organization, CPI (Maoist), including Misir Besra, Anmol, Mochu, Anchal, Aseem Mandal, Ajay Mahato, Sagen Angaria, and Ashwin, are actively involved in subversive activities in the region. Since 2022, security forces have been conducting anti-Naxal operations in Goilkera, Kuirda, Meralgera, Hatiburu, Toto, and Luiya areas.

These operations involve a combined force of CRPF, Cobra Battalion, Jharkhand Jaguar, and district police, continuously striving to eliminate Naxal presence. Based on intelligence inputs, security forces have conducted multiple operations targeting Naxal bases to weaken their network. Despite the IED blast, the morale of the jawans remains high, and the operations have been intensified.
