Parts of India are experiencing June-like scorching heat in April. A severe heatwave, characterized by b hot winds (loo), is affecting northern and western states, causing significant discomfort. However, some southern and northeastern states may receive some rain relief.

According to the latest forecast from the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the heat and heatwave will continue in northern, western, and central parts of the country tomorrow. Meanwhile, light to moderate rain is anticipated in the northeast and some southern states.
The Meteorological Department states that the low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal may intensify weather activities in some areas, potentially leading to further changes in weather conditions.
Delhi-NCR: Rising Temperatures and Heatwave
While the skies over Delhi will remain clear, the ground conditions will be intensely hot. The maximum temperature is expected to reach 38 degrees Celsius, and the minimum temperature will be around 24 degrees Celsius. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for a heatwave. Health experts advise the elderly and children to stay indoors during the day and consume plenty of water.
Punjab and Haryana: Severe Heatwave
The impact of the heatwave will intensify in Punjab and Haryana. Temperatures in Ludhiana, Amritsar, Ambala, and Karnal may exceed 39 degrees Celsius. Farmers are advised to exercise caution and schedule irrigation for the mornings or evenings.
Rajasthan: Temperatures to Reach 42 Degrees
The heatwave is intensifying in Rajasthan. Temperatures in cities like Jaipur, Bikaner, and Jodhpur are expected to reach 42 degrees Celsius. The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert, warning against venturing outdoors during the afternoon.
Gujarat and Maharashtra: Heat and Humidity
Temperatures in Ahmedabad and Surat, Gujarat, may reach 41 degrees Celsius, while coastal areas will experience discomfort due to high humidity. Mumbai, Maharashtra, will experience sticky heat throughout the day. Pune is expected to be relatively cooler, but cloudy conditions and light rain are possible in the Vidarbha region.
Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand: Pleasant in Hills, Hot in Plains
The weather will remain pleasant in Shimla and Manali, but temperatures will rise in lower areas like Hamirpur and Kangra. In Uttarakhand, maximum temperatures in Dehradun and Haridwar may reach around 35 degrees Celsius.
Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh: Cool but Dry Weather
Jammu may experience intense sunshine and hot winds, while Srinagar and Leh will enjoy clear, cool, and pleasant weather. Night temperatures in Ladakh may drop to 0 degrees Celsius.
Bihar and Jharkhand: Drizzle Expected Amidst Heat
Temperatures in Patna and Gaya will exceed 37 degrees Celsius, but light rain in the late evening may provide some relief. Ranchi and Jamshedpur may experience partly cloudy skies and light showers late at night.
Northeast and South India: Anticipation of Rain
Light to moderate rain is expected in Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, and Mizoram. Parts of Kerala, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu may also experience rain with lightning. Kerala is particularly under a heavy rainfall warning.
