South African Bowler Corbin Bosch Banned for One Year by PSL
Last Updated: 11-04-2025

South African fast bowler, Corbin Bosch, who had signed with the Mumbai Indians, has received a significant setback from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). Bosch, drafted by Peshawar Zalmi for the PSL 2025, has been banned for one year for withdrawing from the tournament.

Sports News: South African fast bowler Corbin Bosch has been banned by the Pakistan Super League (PSL) for one year. This decision came after Bosch withdrew his name from PSL 2025, despite being drafted by the Peshawar Zalmi franchise. Following his withdrawal from the PSL, Corbin Bosch signed with the Indian Premier League (IPL) team Mumbai Indians, replacing the injured Lizaad Williams.

Since the PSL and IPL schedules clashed this year, Bosch prioritized the IPL. The PSL deemed this a 'breach of contract,' resulting in a suspension for the 2026 season.

Why the Controversy?

Corbin Bosch participated in the PSL 2025 draft and was selected by Peshawar Zalmi. However, after Mumbai Indians chose him to replace the injured Lizaad Williams in the IPL, he withdrew from the PSL. The PCB considered this a breach of contract, taking legal action and imposing a one-year ban on Bosch.

PCB's Statement

The Pakistan Cricket Board's statement said the player did not take the PSL contract seriously. The board issued a legal notice to Bosch, and after receiving his acceptance letter, imposed a ban until 2026. The PCB also clarified that this action was taken to maintain the league's reputation and discipline.

Bosch Apologizes, Takes Responsibility

Corbin Bosch publicly responded to the events. He stated, "I apologize to Pakistan's cricket fans, Peshawar Zalmi fans, and the entire cricket community. Many will be disappointed by my actions, but I accept my mistake. This is a difficult time in my career, but I want to learn from this and return ber."

Bosch's IPL Highlight

Although Corbin Bosch has not yet played for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2025, he gained attention for a spectacular catch of Rishabh Pant in a match against Lucknow Super Giants. Bosch has taken 59 wickets in 86 T20 matches and is considered a reliable all-rounder.

This case is not just about a player's ban; it highlights the larger issue of the difficult choices players face when selecting between international and franchise leagues.
