Sports News: Indian wrestler Deepak Punia won his third silver medal at the Asian Championships, while Udit finished second for the second consecutive time. Despite failing to qualify for the Paris Olympics, Punia made a remarkable comeback in the 92 kg category. Deepak Punia secured a hard-fought victory against Bekzat Rakhimov. He faced stiff competition from his Kyrgyz opponent but secured a place in the semi-finals with a 12-7 win in the quarter-finals.
Deepak Punia: Third Silver Medal
India's star wrestler, Deepak Punia, once again demonstrated his prowess at the Asian Wrestling Championships. Wrestling in the 92 kg category, Punia won his third silver medal. Punia defeated Bekzat Rakhimov of Kyrgyzstan 12-7 in the quarter-finals to reach the semi-finals. He then defeated Takashi Ishiguro of Japan 8-1 to reach the final.
In the gold medal match, Punia faced Amirhossein B. Firoozpourbandpei, the world number one wrestler from Iran. In this tough contest, Punia suffered defeat on technical superiority. Deepak Punia has now won a total of four medals (two silver and two bronze) at the Asian Championships.
Udit: Second Consecutive Silver Medal
In the 61 kg category, India's Udit also performed exceptionally well. He defeated Bekbolot Mirzanjar Ulu of Kyrgyzstan 9-6 and then defeated Wanhao Zhou of China 2-0 to reach the final. In the final, however, he lost to world number one wrestler Takara Suda 6-4. Udit also won a silver medal last year and repeated his performance this time, securing second place.
Dinesh: Bronze Medal in Heavyweight
Indian wrestler Dinesh won a bronze medal in the heavyweight 125 kg category. He defeated Buhirdun of China on technical superiority in the quarter-finals. After losing to Lkhagvagerel Munkhtur of Mongolia 1-5 in the semi-finals, Dinesh defeated Saparov Zed of Turkmenistan 14-12 for the bronze medal.
Mukul Dahiya and Jaideep Ahlawat's Challenge
Mukul Dahiya also performed bly, defeating Weng Luen Gary Chow of Singapore on technical superiority and securing a place in the semi-finals. However, after losing to Abolfazl Y. Rahmani Firouzjaei of Iran in the semi-finals, he was defeated 4-2 by Tatsuya Shirai of Japan in the bronze medal match. On the other hand, in the 74 kg category, Jaideep Ahlawat lost his opening match 5-10 to Hikaru Takata of Japan.
