Coimbatore: Union Home Minister Amit Shah addressed the people of Tamil Nadu after inaugurating the BJP's new office in Coimbatore on Tuesday. In his speech, he launched a scathing attack on the DMK government, claiming that the NDA will form the government in Tamil Nadu in 2026, ending dynastic politics and corruption. Shah alleged that DMK leaders possess "degrees" in corruption and that their government is solely focused on furthering family interests.
NDA Government Claimed for 2026
Amit Shah stated, "The time has come to liberate Tamil Nadu from the anti-national DMK. The NDA government will be formed in the 2026 elections, ushering in a new era for Tamil Nadu. We will eradicate dynastic politics and corruption here and take Tamil Nadu to new heights of development." Responding to Chief Minister M.K. Stalin's statements regarding delimitation, Shah said that it was completely false propaganda that Tamil Nadu would lose eight Lok Sabha seats. He explicitly stated that no parliamentary constituency in Tamil Nadu would be reduced in the delimitation process.
Targeting Corruption
Attacking the DMK government, Amit Shah said, "DMK leaders have complete degrees in corruption. Some are involved in job racketeering, some in money laundering and illegal sand mining. Some leaders face cases of possessing assets disproportionate to their known sources of income. The people will answer all this in the 2026 elections." Shah compared the UPA and NDA governments, stating that the UPA government from 2004 to 2014 provided Tamil Nadu with ₹1.52 lakh crore, while the Modi government from 2014 to 2024 provided ₹5.08 lakh crore.
Furthermore, the Modi government has separately allocated ₹1.43 lakh crore for the state's infrastructural development. Amit Shah began his speech by apologizing for not speaking in Tamil, saying, "Tamil is one of the oldest and richest languages in the world. I am sorry that I cannot speak in Tamil."
