Ram Navami sparks political tensions in Bengal; Suvendu Adhikari announces grand Ram temple in Nandigram, Mamata Banerjee appeals for peace. The election atmosphere heats up.

West Bengal: West Bengal is witnessing a political standoff over Ram Navami celebrations. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee appealed to the people of the state to celebrate Ram Navami peacefully. She criticized the central government, stating, "The central government is adopting a religion that is not the religion of Swami Vivekananda. Do they want to incite riots? Eid was recently celebrated, and now Ram Navami is approaching. I want it to be celebrated peacefully." She further added, "We will follow Vivekananda and the Vedas, not the jumla party."

Suvendu Adhikari's Counterattack

Following Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's appeal, the Leader of the Opposition in Bengal, Suvendu Adhikari, launched a sharp attack on her. He said, "Nothing will happen in Bengal; the Hindu community will take to the streets during Ram Navami." He alleged that Ram Navami processions were attacked last year, and the state government failed to prevent them. Adhikari stated, "The Hindu community does not create riots, but this time every Hindu will come out of their homes and chant 'Jai Shri Ram'. Every vehicle will fly the saffron flag."

Grand Ram Temple to be built in Nandigram

Suvendu Adhikari announced the laying of the foundation stone for a grand Ram temple in Nandigram on Ram Navami. He said that this temple will be built on the lines of the Ayodhya Ram temple and about 1.5 acres of land has been earmarked for it. He said, "The Nandigram Ram temple will be the largest Ram temple in Bengal and will symbolize the devotion of the state's Hindu community."

Political Tension in Bengal

Ahead of the assembly elections in West Bengal next year, the political battle between the BJP and TMC has intensified. Both parties are engaging in sharp rhetoric, particularly on religious and cultural issues. The political temperature is likely to rise further over the Ram Navami celebrations.
