Three laborers trapped after a well collapses in Chhindwara on January 14th. A 12-hour rescue operation is underway, the Collector has informed.
MP News: On Tuesday, January 14th, three laborers were trapped under debris when a well under construction collapsed in Chhindwara district, Madhya Pradesh. A rescue operation involving NDRF and SDRF teams has been underway for 12 hours. Administrative officials, including the Collector and SP, are present at the site, along with a medical team and ambulances.
Challenges in the Rescue Operation
The rescue operation is facing difficulties due to water filling the well. The water has reached the necks of the trapped laborers. Efforts are being made to remove the water using pumps. A pit is being dug in the well with the help of a Poclain and two JCBs, and a parallel tunnel is being created to rescue the laborers.
Identification of Trapped Laborers
The trapped laborers have been identified as Rashid, Wasid, and Shahzadi. The incident occurred in Khunajhir Khurd village, Chhindwara. The well collapsed while removing debris from an old well, trapping three laborers. Some laborers escaped safely during the incident, while three remained trapped.
Readiness of the Rescue Team and Administration
Collector Sheelendra Singh stated that the rescue operation has been ongoing since 4 PM on January 14th. The NDRF team is constructing a ramp 45 meters away from the well to reach the trapped laborers. The laborers' families have arrived at the scene and are anxious about the situation.
Situation Following the Accident
A large crowd gathered at the site after the accident. The laborers' relatives arrived to inquire about the incident. A relative who arrived in Chhindwara from Bhopal stated that Rashid, who is trapped under the debris, is his nephew, and they received news of the accident in the evening.
Cause of the Collapse
It has been learned that the well collapsed while removing debris from an old well, trapping three laborers. Following the accident, villagers and other locals arrived at the scene and assisted in the rescue efforts.
