India has added another feather to its military capabilities with the successful testing of its indigenously developed long-range glide bomb, 'Gaurav'. This achievement once again showcases India's prowess in defense technology to the world.
Sukhoi-30 MKI Aircraft: The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully tested the long-range glide bomb (LRGB) 'Gaurav' between April 8th and 10th. Launched from a Sukhoi-30 MKI aircraft, the bomb was integrated with various warhead configurations at multiple stations, rigorously testing its accuracy and effectiveness.
A key feature of this glide bomb is its ability to reach its target solely through aerodynamic forces, without any rocket propulsion. This allows for precise and effective targeting of enemy installations.
DRDO's Brahmastra: Unmatched Power
The strength of this DRDO-developed bomb lies not only in its range but also in its precision and destructive capacity. This 1000-kilogram class bomb is capable of completely devastating enemy targets without warning. The test, conducted between April 8th and 10th, was declared a complete success.
Indigenous Technology and the Importance of Private Sector Partnerships
The 'Gaurav' bomb is entirely indigenous, a collaborative effort by DRDO's Research Centre Imarat (RCI), Armament Research and Development Establishment (ARDE), and Integrated Test Range (ITR), Chandipur. Adani Defence Systems, Bharat Forge, and several MSMEs also contributed technically, making this project a prime example of 'Make in India'.
'Gaurav' Ready to Make its Mark
Multiple configurations of the weapon were trialled, using various warheads and launch stations. Each trial demonstrated exceptional accuracy. It is expected to soon join the Indian Air Force's arsenal, significantly enhancing future strategies for long-range strikes against border targets and terrorist launchpads.
Defense experts believe that weapons like 'Gaurav' provide the Indian military with a new dimension beyond surgical strikes—low risk, high precision, and long range. India can now inflict devastating blows on enemy bholds without direct engagement, using such weapons in its aerial operations.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh's Statement
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated the DRDO, the Indian Air Force, and private industries, stating that weapons like the Gaurav bomb elevate the nation's strategic capabilities to new heights. He described it as another firm step towards a self-reliant India. Following the successful trials, 'Gaurav' is now poised for induction into the Air Force. Experts predict a revolutionary increase in the Indian Air Force's striking power upon its deployment.
