The Karnataka High Court delivered a landmark decision on Tuesday, granting Hindu devotees permission to worship the Raghav Chaitanya Shivalinga within the Ladle Mashq Dargah complex in Aland during Maha Shivaratri. This order upholds a previous ruling by the Karnataka Waqf Tribunal, which established a balanced schedule for religious observances.
Bengaluru: In a significant judgment on Tuesday, the Karnataka High Court allowed Hindu devotees to worship the Raghav Chaitanya Shivalinga at the Ladle Mashq Dargah complex in Aland, Kalaburagi district, during Maha Shivaratri. This decision affirms a prior order from the Karnataka Waqf Tribunal, which outlined a schedule for religious rituals.
Dispute and Resolution at a Shared Place of Worship
The Ladle Mashq Dargah is associated with a 14th-century Sufi saint and a 15th-century Hindu saint, Raghav Chaitanya, and has been considered a shared place of worship for centuries. However, a dispute arose in 2022 concerning religious rights, escalating communal tensions. This dispute temporarily prevented Hindu devotees from worshipping, but the High Court's order has now restored this historical tradition.
Balanced Schedule: Designated Worship Times for Both Communities
* The Muslim community will be permitted to perform Urs rituals from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
* Hindu devotees are allowed to worship the Shivalinga located within the Dargah complex from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
* Only 15 Hindu devotees will be allowed entry for worship.
Strict Security, Section 144 Imposed in Aland
* Large public gatherings have been banned.
* Twelve security checkpoints have been established.
* Drone surveillance is being implemented.
* Additional police forces have been deployed.
