Manipur President Rule: President's Rule has been imposed in Manipur. Earlier, Chief Minister N. Biren Singh resigned from his post on Sunday. The BJP leadership is in discussion regarding the selection of a new Chief Minister, but no consensus has been reached yet.

BJP Unable to Select New CM

Following Biren Singh's resignation, Sambit Patra, BJP's Northeast in-charge, held several rounds of meetings with MLAs, but no concrete outcome has been achieved. Congress MLA Thokchom Lokeshwar questioned Patra's visit to Manipur, urging him to play a decisive role in the swift appointment of a new Chief Minister.

Assembly Session Cancelled

The last session of the Manipur Legislative Assembly concluded on August 12, 2024. The Governor has cancelled the seventh session scheduled to begin on February 10th. Amidst political instability, the BJP needs to make a swift decision.

Six Arrested from Banned Organizations

The law and order situation in Manipur remains critical. Security forces have arrested six individuals linked to three banned organizations. Four cadres of the Kanglapak Communist Party (PWG) were apprehended in Imphal West on Wednesday, while two others associated with PREPAK and KCP (City Meitei) were also detained.

FIR Filed for Selling SIM Cards with Forged Documents

Manipur Police have filed an FIR against individuals selling active SIM cards using forged documents. The police are investigating this entire network.
