PM Modi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, speaking in Hisar, Haryana, on Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar's birth anniversary, delivered a speech that was both inspiring and politically crucial. While paying homage to Babasaheb, he also sharply criticized the Congress party, linking his government's policies to Ambedkar's ideology.
PM Modi concluded his speech by stating that his government, over the past 11 years, has been guided by Babasaheb's ideals. Our policies, decisions, and development model are all inspired by Babasaheb's vision. Our goal is to create an India where there is no discrimination and everyone has equal opportunities.
Religion-Based Reservation in Karnataka – Against Babasaheb's Ideals
PM Modi attacked the Karnataka government, stating that it had implemented religion-based reservations, taking away the rights of SC, ST, and OBC communities. Babasaheb had explicitly stated that reservations should not be granted on the basis of religion. However, the Congress party, prioritizing vote-bank politics, disregarded his principles, Modi asserted.
Direct Attack on Congress Using Babasaheb as a Pretext
In his speech, PM Modi launched a b attack on the Congress party. He stated that the Congress disrespected Babasaheb during his lifetime, even causing him to lose elections twice. They attempted to undermine Dr. Ambedkar's ideas. Babasaheb did not receive the Bharat Ratna during his lifetime; this honor was bestowed only after a BJP government came to power, Modi declared.
Congress's Delay in Awarding Babasaheb the Bharat Ratna
The Prime Minister stated, "Congress talks big about social justice, but it did not confer the Bharat Ratna on Babasaheb and Chaudhary Charan Singh. This honor was given only after the BJP came to power." He further emphasized that the BJP government not only honored Babasaheb's ideas but also implemented them on the ground.
The Prime Minister pointed out that even after so many years of independence, basic amenities like toilets and water were unavailable to Dalit, backward, and tribal communities. Our government has provided dignity by constructing over 110 million toilets. The 'Har Ghar Jal' scheme has provided piped water to millions of homes.
PM Modi highlighted the transformation in homes that previously lacked electricity or toilets; now, they have LED lights and children receive better education. On Babasaheb Ambedkar's birth anniversary, PM Modi revealed significant insights into Dalit empowerment, social justice, and the Congress party's policies.
Every Policy, Every Decision Dedicated to Babasaheb
PM Modi stated that his government has not limited Babasaheb's ideas to books but has strived to implement them practically. Every decision, scheme, and initiative of our government is dedicated to Babasaheb Ambedkar. Our aim is to bring positive changes in the lives of the deprived, the suffering, the exploited, the poor, women, and tribal communities, he said.
PM Modi also added that Babasaheb's vision was not limited to social reform; he also believed in economic empowerment and self-reliance.
We are Ensuring Social Justice Along with Development
The Prime Minister stated that the BJP government is working on a dual strategy – rapid development on one hand and social justice on the other. We are emphasizing infrastructure such as highways, railways, airports, and digital connectivity, but at the same time, we are also ensuring that the benefits of government schemes reach even the most marginalized sections of society, he said.
He further added that this was Babasaheb's dream – an India where every citizen receives equal opportunity and respect, regardless of caste or class.
Congress Insulted Babasaheb
In his speech, PM Modi bly criticized the Congress party, alleging that it had insulted Babasaheb during his lifetime and later attempted to erase his ideas. Congress caused him to lose elections twice and humiliated him. He was the architect of the Constitution, yet Congress never gave him the respect he deserved.
He said that Congress deliberately tried to suppress Ambedkar's legacy because his ideas were uncomfortable for their vote-bank politics.
Congress's Habit of Insulting the Constitution
The Prime Minister said that Congress never considered the Constitution ideal; whenever threatened with loss of power, it crushed the soul of the Constitution. During the Emergency, Congress crushed democracy and disregarded the Constitution, suppressing press freedom and plunging the nation into darkness.
He accused Congress of repeatedly misusing constitutional provisions and using the system created by Babasaheb as a tool for appeasement politics.
Congress Treated Dalits as Second-Class Citizens
The Prime Minister said that during Congress's rule, villages lacked basic amenities, with the Dalit, tribal, and backward communities suffering the most. Congress leaders lived in luxurious bungalows and had swimming pools, while only 16 out of 100 homes in villages had piped water. The SC, ST, and OBC communities were most affected.
We Have Given Dignity and Rights to the Deprived
PM Modi said that his government, in the past 11 years, has provided millions of poor people with facilities like toilets, gas cylinders, electricity connections, and water supply. We have constructed over 110 million toilets, giving dignity to those previously ignored. Through the 'Har Ghar Jal' scheme, we are providing water to villages across the country.
He stated that this is an attempt to implement Babasaheb's ideas of 'self-respect and self-reliance'. PM Modi's speech was not merely a political response but also a broader social message. By connecting Babasaheb's life and ideas to modern India, he clarified that his government prioritizes social justice and inclusive development.
