Patna: Political speculation surrounding Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has intensified in Bihar in recent days. Different claims have been made by JD(U) and RJD. Amidst this, on the first day of 2025, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar travelled to his ancestral village, Kalyan Bigha, where he paid homage to his parents and wife by placing garlands on their portraits. Meanwhile, Tejashwi Yadav, Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly, wished the people of Bihar a Happy New Year by writing a two-page letter.
CM Nitish Kumar Visits Ancestral Village on New Year's Day
On Wednesday, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar paid homage to his late mother, Parmeshwari Devi, on the anniversary of her death, at the Kaviraj Ramlakhan Singh Smriti Vatika in Kalyan Bigha. He also paid homage to his father, Kaviraj Ramlakhan Singh, and his wife, Manju Sinha, by placing garlands on their portraits. Chief Minister's elder brother Satish Kumar, son Nishant Kumar, and other family members also paid their respects.
Newly appointed Governor Arif Mohammad Khan also paid homage by placing garlands on the portraits of the departed family members. The event was attended by several social and political figures, including Minister for Water Resources and Parliamentary Affairs Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, Member of Parliament Kaushalesh Kumar, MLA Dr. Jitendra Kumar, Kaushal Kishore, and MLA Sanjay Kumar Singh (also known as Gandhi).
Thereafter, the Chief Minister performed puja at the Bhagwati Temple in Kalyan Bigha and prayed for the well-being, peace, and prosperity of the state. He also interacted with local people, inquired about their well-being, and listened to their concerns.
Tejashwi Yadav Wishes Bihar Citizens a Happy New Year
Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly, Tejashwi Yadav, wrote a letter to the people of Bihar on New Year's Day, extending New Year greetings and expressing confidence that 2025 will be a significant year in Bihar's developmental history. He asserted that 2025 will lay the foundation for change and the creation of a new Bihar, promising to bring the state to a position where progress and advancement are readily apparent.
Concluding his letter with the lines from Bapu's favourite bhajan ("Ishwar Allah tere naam, sabko sanmati de Bhagwan"), Tejashwi also pledged to remove smart meters from homes upon the formation of a people's government and provide free electricity of 200 units per home. He further promised to eliminate unemployment and create new employment opportunities.
Heightened Political Activity in Bihar
Political activity has intensified in Bihar recently. JD(U) and NDA have asserted that a government led by Nitish Kumar will be formed after the 2025 Assembly elections. Simultaneously, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav has further fuelled the atmosphere by claiming that the INDIA alliance doors are closed to Nitish Kumar.
Political speculation has been rife in Bihar for the past few days, particularly with rumours circulating that Nitish Kumar is dissatisfied with the NDA.
