The "Jay Ghosh" program, slated to launch from Mithilanchal for the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, has been significantly impacted by the recent Pahalgam terror attack. The program, initially planned as a major event under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, has now adopted a more subdued and sensitive approach.

PM Modi statement on Pahalgam terror attack: The entire nation felt the sting of the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. This grief has now resonated in Bihar's Mithilanchal region. Prime Minister Narendra Modi's arrival in Jhanjharpur on Thursday wasn't just a routine governmental visit; it became a public declaration of national mourning, commitment, and resolute struggle against terrorism.

This time, there were no drums, no traditional welcoming ceremonies. For the first time in Mithila, the customary offerings of makhana garlands, traditional pags (headgear), and honor shawls were symbolically withheld upon the Prime Minister's arrival. This decision symbolized not only condolences for the Pahalgam attack but also conveyed a public message of the nation's unity and seriousness in combating terrorism.

No fanfare, no celebration—only resolve

The public gathering held on Thursday in Jhanjharpur's historic grounds transformed into a 'mourning assembly.' The usual music, cultural performances, and colorful posters were replaced by silent tributes, a simple stage, and solemn speeches. The Prime Minister's visit transcended a mere administrative formality, becoming a powerful demonstration of heightened emotions and unwavering resolve.

PM Modi began his address by paying tribute to the martyrs of Pahalgam. He stated, "This is not a time for celebration, but for response. We will answer terror with development and unity. From this sacred land of Mithilanchal, I send a clear message to the supporters of terrorism: India will not remain silent."

Simple event, extraordinary message

Prime Minister Modi launched several Panchayati Raj-related schemes, including the formation of a Makhana board, new projects under the Jal Jeevan Mission, and new employment opportunities under MNREGA. He also announced a ₹12,000 crore relief package for flood-affected areas.

The 'Namo Bharat Express,' or Vande Metro, was also flagged off with simple ceremony. The stage lacked flowers, garlands, bands, or elaborate decorations; only a simple flag and the silent consent of the people were present.

Resolve amidst security

Security arrangements for this gathering were far stricter than usual. Local administration, central security agencies, and special forces were fully deployed. However, PM Modi's confidence and the public's trust remained unwavering. The Prime Minister asserted that security stems not just from weapons but from intent, and India's intent today is clearer and firmer than ever.

Politically significant visit

While the Pahalgam attack cast the gathering in the somber light of a mourning assembly, its political significance remains considerable. Mithilanchal's 60 assembly seats play a decisive role in Bihar's electoral arithmetic. In 2020, the NDA held 40 of these seats. Under Mission 2025, the BJP-JD(U) alliance aims to win all seats in Mithilanchal.

Districts like Sitamarhi, Sheohar, Madhubani, and Darbhanga, where the NDA and RJD directly compete, saw this gathering as crucial for establishing emotional connection and reinforcing confidence in security.
