Beneficiaries can now apply for Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Gramin through the Awas Plus app on their mobile phones. Priority will be given to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and the middle class who lack housing.

PM Awas Yojana: The survey for beneficiaries under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Gramin 2.0 (PMAY-G) has commenced in Dumka district. The government aims to provide eligible families with pucca houses between 2024-25 and 2028-29. Under this scheme, beneficiaries will receive assistance to construct a pucca house costing ₹1.20 lakh.

Applications can be submitted until March 31, 2025

In Jharkhand, applications for this scheme can be submitted until March 31, 2025. The survey will be conducted through Gram Panchayat Secretaries, while special committees have been formed at the district and block levels for verification.

Beneficiaries can now apply themselves

For PM Awas Yojana Gramin, beneficiaries can now apply themselves using their mobile phones. The National Informatics Centre (NIC) has developed a mobile app called Awas Plus for this purpose. Eligible individuals can apply online from the comfort of their homes through this app.

Who will benefit from the scheme?

Under this scheme, priority will be given to the following beneficiaries:

- Homeless families
- Families belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST)
- Individuals from the middle and lower-middle income groups
- Those who do not own a pucca house

How to apply online?

- Download the Awas Plus-2024 survey and Aadhaar Face ID app.
- Only one application can be submitted from one mobile phone.
- Aadhaar number is mandatory for application.

Who will not benefit from the scheme?

Certain categories of people will be ineligible for this scheme:

- Farmers whose KCC limit exceeds ₹50,000.
- Those who own a pucca house or a three/four-wheeled vehicle.
- Farmers owning more than 11.5 acres of unirrigated land or more than 2.5 acres of irrigated land.
- Families where a member is employed in a government job or pays business tax.

Government fully prepared

The government is fully committed to this scheme and aims to benefit eligible families as soon as possible. According to Abhijit Sinha, Deputy Development Commissioner of Dumka, the survey is being conducted at the panchayat level, but beneficiaries can also provide their information through the app, which will bring transparency and speed to the process.
