Amidst rising tensions between China and Taiwan, China has recently intensified its military exercises near Taiwan. Taiwan bly condemned these military actions on Thursday, criticizing China's moves sharply. These drills, conducted near Taiwan's southwest coast – a region crucial for its military infrastructure – have caused significant concern in Taiwan and raised new questions about regional security.

'China is the Biggest Threat'

Taiwan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has again leveled serious accusations against China. In a statement, the Ministry said, "China has become the biggest threat to regional peace and stability. It is the sole and greatest crisis in the Taiwan Strait and the Indo-Pacific region."

Taiwan's Ministry of Defence reported an increase in Chinese military activity around Taiwan in the past 24 hours. Activity involving 45 Chinese aircraft, 14 naval vessels, and one Chinese army ship was observed. Of these, 34 Chinese military units intruded into Taiwan's waters and airspace. Taiwan responded appropriately to these increased incursions, though further details were not shared.

Taiwan Responds

Earlier this week, Taiwan bly protested the incursion of Chinese coast guard ships into its waters. According to Taiwanese officials, four Chinese coast guard vessels entered Taiwanese waters near the Kinmen Islands, prompting a Taiwanese naval response to expel them.

Meanwhile, China's state-run news agency, Xinhua, reported that a senior Chinese official, Wang Huning, spoke at an annual meeting on the Taiwan issue. He urged China to take the initiative in "cross-strait" (China-Taiwan) relations and move towards the reunification of Taiwan with the mainland.

China has designated an area for live-fire drills in the southwest waters off Taiwan, the self-governing island it considers part of its territory and claims the right to bring under its control by force if necessary. Furthermore, in recent years, China has increased its military activities around Taiwan's waters and airspace, further escalating regional tensions.
