Trump-Zelenskyy's Heated White House Exchange Causes Uproar
A heated exchange between President Trump and President Zelenskyy at the White House has sparked significant controversy. Russia views the event positively, while European leaders largely support Zelenskyy. Hungary's Prime Minister Orbán has voiced support for Trump.
The Trump-Zelenskyy Clash: A meeting at the White House between US President Donald Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy escalated into a sharp verbal confrontation. Trump and Vance characterized Zelenskyy's comments as disrespectful to America and the White House, while Zelenskyy accused the US of failing to understand their position.
Putin Allies Support Trump
Russian media and associates of President Vladimir Putin have hailed the Trump-Zelenskyy dispute as 'good news' for Russia. Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council and former President, stated, "The US President dealt a harsh blow to Ukraine, but it's not enough – we must stop providing military aid to this Nazi machine (Zelenskyy's government)."
Russian media outlet RT described the meeting, stating, "Zelenskyy sat with his hands between his legs while Trump and Vance targeted him." Maria Zakharova, spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, called it a "miracle" that Trump and Vance refrained from physically assaulting Zelenskyy.
Oval Office Meeting Deemed 'Historic'
Kirill Dmitriyev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, who recently participated in a Russia-US meeting in Saudi Arabia, described the White House meeting as historic. He suggested the dispute highlighted growing discord between Ukraine and Western countries.
European Responses
The White House incident elicited varied reactions across Europe. Most European leaders expressed support for Zelenskyy and Ukraine, but Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán sided with Trump.
Orbán wrote on social media, "Strong men keep the peace, weak men make war. Trump bravely stands for peace, even if some don't like it."
Growing US Discord Over Ukraine
The White House confrontation has fueled debate within the US regarding military aid to Ukraine. Yevgeny Primakov, head of Russia's agency for international humanitarian cooperation, stated, "Zelenskyy and his associates are interested in escalation, which could lead to the massacre of peaceful civilians."
