Sports News: Indian cricket team's star spinner Yuzvendra Chahal and his wife Dhanashree Verma are on the verge of finalizing their divorce. While rumors about their relationship have persisted, it's now clear they are separating amicably. The family court is expected to deliver its final verdict on March 20th, outlining crucial alimony terms.
Bombay High Court Directs Family Court
Reports indicate the Bombay High Court has instructed the family court to deliver its judgment by March 20th. Previously, the family court dismissed an appeal to waive the divorce cooling-off period. However, the High Court has now directed the swift resolution of the case.
An agreement has been reached regarding Dhanashree's alimony. Reports suggest Chahal will pay a total of ₹4.75 crore. He has already paid ₹2.37 crore, with the remaining ₹2.38 crore to be paid after the family court's decision.
Why did their relationship deteriorate after marriage?
Yuzvendra Chahal and Dhanashree Verma married in December 2020. However, their relationship began to deteriorate shortly after. Reports suggest they have been living separately since June 2022. They filed for divorce in the family court on February 5th, 2024. Signs of the marriage breakdown emerged when Dhanashree changed her surname on social media, and Chahal removed their photos together.
Currently, Yuzvendra Chahal is busy preparing for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The legal proceedings related to the divorce may impact him mentally. Therefore, the Bombay High Court, considering Chahal's cricketing career, has instructed the family court to deliver a verdict as soon as possible. Reports suggest the divorce is amicable, with no bitterness between the two. However, there has been no official statement regarding their future contact.
