Today, April 23rd, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an Orange Alert for Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, and Vidarbha. Meanwhile, temperatures have reached 45°C in states like Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, and Maharashtra.
Western Disturbance Brings Relief to Some Areas
A Western Disturbance is currently positioned over Pakistan, leading to anticipated rainfall in Jammu and Kashmir and Uttarakhand today. Heavy rainfall is also predicted for northeastern states such as Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura, and Sikkim.
Temperature Status
- Temperatures of 45°C were recorded in Jharsuguda, Odisha, and Brahmapuri, Maharashtra.
- The mercury touched 45.6°C in Chandrapur, Vidarbha.
- Sidhi and Amravati in Madhya Pradesh recorded temperatures of 44.6°C.
- A temperature of 43.4°C was recorded in Fursatganj, Uttar Pradesh.
According to the IMD, temperatures in West, North, and Central India may increase further by 2 to 5 degrees Celsius over the next 4-5 days.
Rainfall and Hail Activities
Over the past 24 hours, b winds, thunderstorms, and hailstorms have been observed in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Eastern Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bengal, Odisha, and Northeast India. Heavy rainfall occurred in Sikkim and Tripura.
