Rajasthan SI Exam Dispute: High Court Takes a Firm Stance

The ongoing dispute regarding the 2021 Sub-Inspector recruitment exam in Rajasthan remains unresolved. During Monday's (February 17th) hearing, Justice Samir Jain expressed b dissatisfaction with the state government's lackadaisical approach and even suggested a CBI inquiry.

While the government's lawyer repeatedly claimed that the state government was in the process of making a decision, Justice Samir Jain responded with sharp criticism. He questioned, "If the government's investigation isn't progressing in the right direction, why not consider handing over the case to the CBI?"

The court granted the government not just one month, but two months to reach a concrete decision and inform the court accordingly.

Stern Remarks and Serious Questions

The court raised serious questions about the government's actions, noting that despite a stay order, trainee SIs were sent for field training. Furthermore, Justice Samir Jain questioned the delay in presenting relevant documents and files pertaining to the case.

The judge clearly warned that if the government's attitude remained unchanged, the case would proceed against the government.

Court's Interrogation

During the hearing, the judge questioned the inconsistencies in statements made by the state government. He asked the government's lawyer and Additional Advocate General Vijayan Shah why the court was being given different information when the SIT and Advocate General's opinions differed. He also questioned the absence of "minutes of meeting" for relevant meetings.

The lack of a clear decision from the state government further increased the court's concern.

Increased Probability of CBI Inquiry

The court expressed hope that the government would clarify its stance soon. The next hearing will determine whether the High Court will order a CBI investigation into the matter.

Doubt remains regarding the government's actions, and the court's displeasure indicates that the case will soon reach a definitive conclusion. It remains to be seen what steps the state government takes and whether the High Court will order a CBI investigation.
