In the first innings of the third Test, the New Zealand team was bowled out for 235 runs. In response, India lost 4 wickets. At stumps, Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant remained unbeaten.

IND vs NZ 3rd Test: A total of 14 wickets fell on the first day of the third Test match played at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Batting first, New Zealand was dismissed for 235 runs, with Daryl Mitchell scoring 82 and Will Young contributing 71. For India, Ravindra Jadeja took 5 wickets and Washington Sundar claimed 4.

In reply, Team India reached 86 runs at the close of play but lost 4 wickets. Rohit Sharma scored 18 and Virat Kohli managed 4 runs before being dismissed. For New Zealand, Ajaz Patel took two wickets.

First Day Summary:

New Zealand won the toss and elected to bat first, but Akashdeep gave the Kiwis an early setback. He dismissed Devon Conway LBW for only four runs. Tom Latham and Will Young then put on a 44-run partnership for the second wicket. Washington Sundar bowled Latham for 28 runs, giving New Zealand their second blow at a total score of 59.

Rachin Ravindra didn't last long at the crease, scoring only five runs before being bowled by Sundar. After three wickets fell for 72 runs, Daryl Mitchell and Will Young forged a crucial 87-run partnership. Will Young was dismissed for 71, after which the Kiwis lost wickets in quick succession.

Glenn Phillips (17), Daryl Mitchell (82), Ish Sodhi (7), Matt Henry (0), and Ajaz Patel (7) were the other New Zealand batsmen dismissed. New Zealand's innings ended at 235 runs. Ravindra Jadeja took 5 wickets for India, while Washington Sundar took 4.

Rohit and Virat's Flop Show

India then began their innings. Rohit Sharma hit three impressive boundaries, but he was dismissed for 18 runs off 18 balls. At one point, India's score was 78/1, but three quick wickets followed. Yashasvi Jaiswal (30), Mohammed Siraj (0), and Virat Kohli (4) were the batsmen dismissed. Kohli's dismissal was particularly noteworthy. At stumps, Shubman Gill was unbeaten on 31 and Rishabh Pant on 1. Ajaz Patel took two wickets for New Zealand, and William O'Rourke claimed one.
