While the Indian men's cricket team is busy with IPL 2025, the Indian women's cricket team is set to participate in a tri-nation ODI series in Sri Lanka, commencing on April 27th. Besides India, the host nation Sri Lanka and South Africa will also be competing in this series.

Sports News: South Africa has announced its 15-member squad for the women's tri-nation ODI series starting April 27th in Sri Lanka. Ahead of their matches against India and the hosts, South Africa surprised everyone by including three new talents in the team. Karabo Meso, Ses’ayani Naidu, and Miyaan Smit have been selected for the senior ODI team for the first time, reflecting the team's long-term planning and player development strategy.

Entry of 3 New Players

Karabo Meso and Ses’ayani Naidu shone in the recently concluded Under-19 T20 World Cup and have now been elevated to the senior team. Naidu is a useful spin all-rounder, while Meso is a wicketkeeper who can also contribute with useful batting in the lower middle order. Miyaan Smit also gets her first opportunity to be part of an ODI squad in this series. Smit was a travelling reserve for the Women's T20 World Cup in the UAE last year and has finally earned a place in the main team.

Players Dropped from the Team

Meanwhile, Nonkululeko Mlaba returns to the team after last featuring in the tour of India last year. However, notable omissions from the squad include Ayanda Hlubi, Mieke de Ridder, and opener Lara Goodall. The selectors' focus on young players clearly indicates the team's shift towards building for the future.
