Once upon a time, during a scorching summer, an ant worked tirelessly to gather provisions for herself. She was determined to complete her work before the sun grew too intense. The ant had been diligently collecting grains from the fields and storing them in her burrow for many days. Nearby, a grasshopper hopped about, enjoying himself. He danced and sang, reveling in the pleasures of life. The ant, drenched in sweat, was exhausted from carrying the grains back to her burrow. As she trudged along, laden with her harvest, the grasshopper hopped in front of her. "Dear ant," he chirped, "why work so hard? Come, join the fun!" The ant ignored the grasshopper and continued diligently depositing each grain into her burrow.
The grasshopper, immersed in his revelry, laughed and teased the ant. He would leap in her path, singing, "Come, dear ant, listen to my song! What a wonderful day it is! The wind is so cool, the sun is golden. Why waste this beautiful day working so hard?" The ant, annoyed by the grasshopper's antics, explained patiently, "Listen, grasshopper, the cool weather won't arrive for some time. Then it will snow heavily. You won't find any food anywhere. I advise you to prepare for the coming cold season."
Gradually, the summer faded away. The grasshopper, lost in his carefree existence, didn't notice when summer ended. Rain fell, and winter arrived. Fog and snow obscured the sun. The grasshopper had not collected any food at all. A thick blanket of snow covered the land. Hunger gnawed at the grasshopper.
The grasshopper had also failed to prepare for the snow and the cold. Suddenly, he spotted the ant. Inside her burrow, she was comfortably enjoying the grains she had stored. Then the grasshopper realized the consequences of his frivolous spending of time. Starving and shivering, the grasshopper begged the ant for help. The ant, compassionate, shared some of her stored food. She had also collected plenty of dry grass and leaves to prepare for the cold, and she showed the grasshopper how to create a warm shelter using these materials.
This story teaches us that – one should work diligently and diligently towards their goals. Even if others make fun of your hard work, they will eventually admire and appreciate it.
