Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) footballer Achraf Hakimi of Morocco is facing serious allegations. A woman has accused him of rape, and the case is gaining momentum. French prosecutors have requested the court to initiate criminal proceedings against Hakimi.
Sports News: Moroccan football star and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) club defender Achraf Hakimi could face up to 15 years in prison following rape allegations made by a woman in France. The case has now reached a critical point in the French judicial system, where prosecutors have formally recommended the initiation of criminal proceedings.
What is the full story?
The incident allegedly occurred on February 25, 2023, when the 24-year-old victim accused Hakimi of sexual assault. According to the victim, she met Hakimi through Instagram. After some conversation, Hakimi invited her to his home in Boulogne-Billancourt, located in the western part of Paris. The woman alleges that Hakimi made physical contact with her without her consent.
She stated that Hakimi forcibly began kissing her mouth and chest, and continued with inappropriate actions despite her refusal. The woman managed to free herself and escape. Before filing a police complaint, the victim messaged a friend for help. Subsequently, the woman gathered courage and contacted the police. On March 3, 2023, an investigating judge indicted Hakimi on rape charges and placed him under judicial supervision.
Recommendation by French Prosecutors
The Nanterre prosecutor's office in France formally recommended criminal charges against Hakimi on August 1, 2025. The case is now under consideration in the Hauts-de-Seine departmental criminal court. Although this recommendation does not directly convict Hakimi, it makes it clear that the prosecution has sufficient evidence to proceed with a trial.
According to the French newspaper 'Le Parisien', the investigation lasted for more than a year, and the court will now decide whether or not to initiate a trial in this case.
Hakimi's Side and PSG's Support
Achraf Hakimi has completely denied these allegations, maintaining his innocence. He stated that it is all a blackmail conspiracy and that whatever happened between them was consensual. PSG club has supported its player from the beginning. The club cited personal reasons for Hakimi's absence from training during the investigation. The club says it respects the legal process and will await justice.
This case is not just limited to allegations against a footballer, but represents the triangle of sports, law, and ethics. Achraf Hakimi, who was part of Morocco's impressive performance in the 2022 FIFA World Cup, is currently going through the most difficult phase of his career.
