The news was confirmed by her family through her official social media account. Her last rites were performed at 3 pm at a Hindu crematorium in Chakla Parsiwada, Andheri East, Mumbai.

Career in Marathi and Hindi Cinema

Praveena Deshpande was known for her work in Marathi and Hindi cinema, where she predominantly played supporting roles. She began her acting career in theatre and later worked in television, films and web series. Over the years, she became a familiar face across generations of audiences.

Among Hindi film audiences, she gained recognition with the 2011 film Ready, in which she appeared alongside Salman Khan and portrayed the character Shalu Chaudhary. She also worked with John Abraham in Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran and appeared in films including Ek Villain and Jalebi.

Television and Digital Work

On television, she featured in serials such as Ghar Ek Mandir, Kumkum – Ek Pyara Sa Bandhan, Karam Apnaa Apnaa and Kulfi Kumar Bajewala. She was widely seen in roles centred on mothers and family characters.

In 2026, she made a cameo appearance in the crime thriller web series Taskari, directed by Neeraj Pandey and starring Emraan Hashmi in the lead role. According to sources, she had completed shooting for the third season of The Family Man, in which she played the mother of the character portrayed by Manoj Bajpayee. The season will include her final on-screen appearances.
