Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Madhya Pradesh’s economy has become highly dynamic with inclusive development.
Madhya Pradesh has set a new benchmark in economic performance. The state’s Economic Survey 2025–26 states that the Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) of Madhya Pradesh has increased by 11.14 percent. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav described this as a significant step towards becoming a state with rapid dynamism alongside inclusive growth.
The Chief Minister said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, financial discipline, transparent administration and forward-looking policies have strengthened the state’s economy. The Economic Survey states that the state’s economy is planned and outcome-oriented.
GSDP and Per Capita Income Growth
In the financial year 2025–26, the GSDP is estimated at ₹16,69,750 crore at current prices and ₹7,81,911 crore at constant (2011–12) prices. This reflects growth of 11.14 percent and 8.04 percent respectively compared to ₹15,02,428 crore and ₹7,23,724 crore in the financial year 2024–25. Per capita income at current prices has increased from ₹38,497 to ₹1,69,050 and at constant prices to ₹76,971.
The Chief Minister said that this growth is the result of improvements in rural, agricultural and industrial sectors, benefiting all sections of society economically.
Sector-wise GSDP Structure
The primary sector accounts for 43.09 percent at current prices and 33.54 percent at constant prices. Within this, crops contribute 30.17 percent, livestock 7.22 percent, forestry 2.13 percent, fisheries 0.61 percent and mining 2.96 percent.
The secondary sector accounts for 19.79 percent at current prices and 26.18 percent at constant prices, with construction contributing 9.22 percent, manufacturing 7.22 percent and electricity, gas and water supply 3.35 percent.

The tertiary sector accounts for 37.12 percent at current prices and 40.28 percent at constant prices. Trade, hotels and restaurants contribute 10.35 percent, other services 7.80 percent, real estate 4.98 percent, public administration 4.96 percent, financial services 3.73 percent, transport 2.80 percent, and communication and railways 2.50 percent.
Agriculture and Rural Development
Total crop production has increased by 7.66 percent, while foodgrain production has risen by 14.68 percent. In the horticulture sector, production reached 425.68 lakh metric tonnes across 28.39 lakh hectares. Milk production reached 225.95 lakh tonnes. Rural infrastructure improvements include 72,975 km of rural roads and completion of 40.82 lakh rural houses.
Industry, MSMEs and Investment
The secondary sector recorded growth of 9.93 percent and the tertiary sector 15.80 percent. A total of 1,028 industrial units were allotted 6,125 acres of land, with proposed investment of ₹1.17 lakh crore and potential employment generation of approximately 1.7 lakh. MSME assistance amounted to ₹2,900 crore, with 1,723 startups and 103 incubation centres operational. Corporate Social Responsibility expenditure was approximately ₹600 crore.
Education, Health and Skill Development
A total of 10.37 percent of the budget has been allocated to education. The dropout rate in classes 1–5 is zero and 6.3 percent in classes 6–8. The number of technical institutions stands at 2,070. Under the Chief Minister Medhavi Yojana, 45,668 students received financial assistance of ₹500 crore.
In the health sector, expenditure stood at ₹34,112 crore, equivalent to 3 percent of GSDP. A total of 4.42 crore Ayushman cards have been issued. The maternal mortality ratio declined from 379 to 142 per lakh live births.
Development Initiatives
Under the Bhavantar Yojana, farmers are provided protection from market fluctuations. Fertiliser distribution has been digitised through GPS tracking and Aadhaar-linked distribution. Women’s empowerment initiatives include the ‘Lakhpati Didi’ scheme and women pulse producer groups. The service sector holds a 37 percent share, with employment opportunities in tourism, IT and financial services. Preparations are underway in future industrial policies for semiconductors, drones and technology startups.
Madhya Pradesh has recorded double-digit growth for two consecutive years. A total GSDP growth of 22.56 percent and a 19.25 percent increase in per capita income have strengthened the “Samriddh Madhya Pradesh” vision.
