Agra’s Fatehabad and Badshahbag to be Renamed
UP News: The process of renaming Fatehabad town and Badshahbag locality in Agra district, Uttar Pradesh, has begun. The district panchayat has proposed the names ‘Sindurpurm’ and ‘Brahmipurm’ respectively and forwarded the proposal to the state government for approval. Once the state government gives its consent, these areas will officially adopt the new names.
Preparation for Renaming Fatehabad and Badshahbag
A proposal to rename Fatehabad town and Badshahbag area in Agra district was passed by the district panchayat board meeting. District Panchayat President Dr. Manju Bhadoria presented the proposal, which received unanimous approval. Under this, it was suggested that Fatehabad’s new name be ‘Sindurpurm’ and Badshahbag’s name be ‘Brahmipurm’.
Proposal Sent to State Government
Following the approval of the proposal, it has now been sent to the Uttar Pradesh government for consideration. The renaming process will only be formally implemented after the state government’s approval. This information emerged through a leading news agency.
Demand for Renaming Based on Historical Significance
The argument in favor of the proposal is that the current names are symbolic of slavery and need to be changed. According to District Panchayat President Dr. Manju Bhadoria, the old name of Fatehabad was ‘Samugarh’, which was later changed. Considering this history, it is suggested that Fatehabad be renamed ‘Sindurpurm’.
Rationale Behind the Name ‘Brahmipurm’
A proposal was also passed to change the name of the Badshahbag area. According to the proposal, its new name will be ‘Brahmipurm’. There are two reasons for this name – firstly, it is being named after Lord Brahma, and secondly, it is linked to India’s defense missile, Brahmos.
A board member explained that this demand is not new. Local residents have been demanding the renaming of both areas for quite some time. Considering this long-standing demand, the meeting was convened at the behest of the Panchayat President and the proposal was passed.
