Agra Student Avni Katara Serves as One-Day DCP Under Mission Shakti Campaign
Last Updated: 4 hour ago

Avni Katara, a student from Agra, was appointed as the DCP (East Zone) for one day under the Mission Shakti campaign. During this period, she listened to public grievances and provided quick resolutions. Avni understood police procedures and made important decisions. She was also informed about cybercrime and digital fraud.

When Avni, a seventh-grade student, started listening to the victims' problems, people were surprised how she would deliver justice. She kept asking them, “Yes, please tell me, what is the problem?” One person reported that a case had been filed at Basai Arela police station, but there was negligence in the police investigation. Avni immediately called the ACP and instructed that the complaint be investigated and a report submitted within 24 hours. The victim was assured that a fair investigation would be conducted.

On this day, Avni listened to more than ten complaints and gave directions for their resolution. In several cases, she asked the concerned police stations to conduct on-site investigations. The objective of this Mission Shakti event was to promote women's empowerment and develop leadership skills among female students. During this, Avni gained experience in understanding the daily functioning of the DCP office, the responsibilities of police personnel, and resolving public problems after hearing them.

During this time, she was also informed about how the nature of crime has changed nowadays — such as cybercrime, digital fraud, etc. Avni was taught how to identify and deal with these, and was also given information about digital security and the procedure for filing complaints.
