Cloud cover and cooler winds brought relief from prolonged heat and humidity in Agra on Monday, with overcast skies prevailing since morning and keeping temperatures comparatively comfortable throughout the day. Although humidity remained in the atmosphere, its impact was lower than in previous days due to cloud cover and intermittent cool winds.
According to the Meteorological Department's forecast, weather conditions in Agra are expected to remain changed over the next few days. The department has forecast thunderstorms, lightning, and light to moderate rainfall from Tuesday until July 4. Strong winds may occur at several locations during this period, and some areas may experience sudden rainfall. The department has advised people to remain cautious in view of the changing weather and to venture into open areas only when necessary.
Meteorological experts said monsoon activity is gradually becoming active, resulting in increased cloud movement. Rainfall over the coming days could lead to a decline in the maximum temperature and provide further relief from the heat. However, humidity may increase temporarily during rainfall, although b winds are expected to offer relief.
Dense cloud cover persisted across the city from Monday morning, with sunlight remaining completely obscured by clouds in many areas. As a result, people travelling outdoors were spared direct exposure to intense sunshine. Residents visited parks, markets, and other public places as weather conditions remained comparatively comfortable. Reduced heat also led to higher outdoor movement during the afternoon than on normal days.
The Meteorological Department has warned people to avoid standing under trees, electricity poles, and weak structures during thunderstorms and lightning. It has also advised maintaining distance from loose hoardings, tin sheds, and weak construction materials during b winds. Farmers have been advised to plan agricultural activities in accordance with the weather forecast.
In view of the possibility of rainfall, the municipal corporation and related departments will also need to pay special attention to drainage arrangements. If heavy rainfall occurs within a short period, waterlogging may develop in low-lying areas of the city. People have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel and monitor the latest weather updates.
The change in weather also affected daily routines, with people enjoying morning and evening walks and other outdoor activities after several days. Shopkeepers said market footfall was better than usual as the absence of intense sunshine encouraged more people to visit commercial areas.
According to the Meteorological Department, cloud movement is likely to continue over Agra until July 4. During this period, different days may witness light to moderate rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, and b winds. If monsoon activity strengthens further, some locations may record good rainfall. The administration has appealed to people to exercise caution during adverse weather and follow advisories issued by the Meteorological Department.
