Ahmedabad Plane Crash: News of the Air India flight AI-171 crash in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, has sent shockwaves across the nation. The aircraft, carrying a total of 242 people—230 passengers and 12 crew members—was en route from Ahmedabad to London. The accident occurred near Meghaninagar area of Ahmedabad on Thursday, June 12th. While the entire nation mourns this devastating tragedy, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has also expressed deep sorrow over this tragedy.

Reacting to the accident, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said, "A deeply saddening accident has occurred in Ahmedabad. This plane was going to London, and many passengers have lost their lives in this accident. I pray to God that as many people as possible remain safe, and those who are not, may their families have the strength to bear this grief."
CM Yogi's emotional response clearly showed that he perceived this tragedy not merely as news, but as a humanitarian catastrophe.

Uttar Pradesh's Deputy Chief Minister, Keshav Prasad Maurya, also described the incident as heartbreaking and painful, writing on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter): "The plane crash incident in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, is extremely heartbreaking and painful. I pray to God for the safety of all passengers."
Air India issued a statement stating that the flight carried 169 Indian citizens, 53 British citizens, 1 Canadian citizen, and 7 Portuguese citizens. The airline also confirmed that an emergency helpline number, 1800 5691 444, has been issued for passenger-related information.
Following the accident, Air India turned its profile pictures across all social media accounts black as a sign of mourning. The airline expressed deep sorrow over the incident and stated that it stands with the bereaved families every step of the way.
Rescue Operation Underway
Gujarat Police and the local administration responded swiftly. Within just 2-3 minutes of the accident, police and other rescue agencies reached the scene. According to a senior police officer, approximately 70-80% of the debris has been cleared, and the rescue operation is continuing rapidly. NDRF, fire brigade, ambulances, and local volunteer organizations are working together.
Currently, there is no official confirmation of the number of fatalities, but eyewitnesses and local administration suggest a significant loss of life is feared.
